“We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day.”
Linda Evangelista fed this line to VOGUE in the early 90s and it’s been on repeat ever since even if she’s long since ditched such sentiment.
She’s the 90s supermodel, one of the originals, who raised hell with her razor-sharp look and pencil-thin brows. You’d know her face, even if you were born too late to know her name.
“I get told a lot that I look like Linda Evangelista,” she told The Guardian in 2005. “Then we have this little argument. I say, 'Well I am,' and they go, 'You can't be, because she's taller.' And I say, 'No, she's this height,' and they say, 'No, she's taller,' and so it continues. I have that little discussion about two or three times a week.”
She was a chameleon. Always changing. But whatever her look, we wanted it. She gave us the haircuts that took us three-plus years to grow out, but also the courage to change as often as we felt like it. Our favourite? The straight-edge fringe that was far from straight edge.
Still, she told Interview Magazine that there’s no chance of a memoir:
“To do that, I would have to ask people about what the hell went down..."
