Issey Miyake - New Zealand

More commonly known for his innovations with fabric and his use of technology to create wearable art, Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake is also highly regarded for his fresh fragrances which reflect his quirky style.

Born in Hiroshima in 1936, Miyake was a survivor of the WWII atomic bombing. He studied graphic design at Tama Art University in Tokyo and his strong directional knowledge of design is perfectly reflected in both his fashion and fragrance bottles. His innovative eye led him to work with some of the best couturiers of the 1960s and eventually moved on to work with French designers Guy Laroche and Givenchy. It wasn't until 1970 when he returned to Japan and founded the Miyake Design Studio and began his own line of women's fashion.

The Issey Miyake brand is richly diverse with lines in both men's and women's fashion collections, watches and accessories, fragrances, and even Evian water. Produced under the agreement of the Beauté Prestige International division of Shiseido, Miyake's fragrances are playfully named and delivered in artfully designed bottles that reflect his personality and rich life experiences. Blended with intense aromas that evoke a range of emotions to suit both men and women, the Issey Miyake perfume collection is bursting with personality and charisma.
